Executive Director's Message

On April 28th, the PACE Board of Directors reviewed and embraced the completed Design Development plans and authorized the final phases of architectural development, Construction Documents and Permits. PACE will be, in current parlance, "shovel ready" by this time next year.

Faces Of PACE – Maxine Barnard, Building the Dream

When it comes to dedication, Maxine Barnard embodies the word. For more than 15 years, she has worked to see PACE become a reality. "I was one of the people involved back when the original feasibility studies were done in 1989," she said. "I've lived in Bellevue since 7th grade, and when the opportunity arose to help bring PACE here, I jumped at the chance."

SB 5680 Signed by Governor Gregoire

On April 10th, Governor Christine Gregoire signed Senate Bill 5680, legislation supported by PACE that revises property tax exemption criteria for nonprofit artistic, scientific, historical, and performing arts organizations.

"Vintage-chic Band" Pink Martini Will Headline the 2009 Candlelight Dinner

Pink Martini, the 12-piece ensemble described by The New York Times as "a vintage-chic band" based in Portland, OR, will perform at the annual Act One Guild Candlelight Dinner fundraising gala on November 7, 2009. The band's fresh sound – a blend of golden-era Hollywood melodies, multilingual lyrics, and diverse rhythm patterns – is achieved through its masterful use of instruments interwoven with the intoxicating vocals of China Forbes.

Faces Of PACE - Trish Carpenter, Performer Turned Act One Guild President

"I think the performing arts represent the soul of our society," said Trish Carpenter, outgoing President of the Act One Guild for PACE. "I've worked in human services, which I believe exemplifies society's heart, for much of my career, but the soul is something different."

Silhouettes of Style—2009 Luncheon & Fashion Show is a Success for PACE

The Act Two Guild of over 30 women launched its first event at The Westin Bellevue on Friday, April 3rd with sold-out attendance of nearly 360 people. Silhouettes of Style dazzled with a luncheon and fully-choreographed spring runway fashion show.

Kim Hardwick was center stage when the Act Two Guild, formed in April 2008 to support the mission of PACE through outreach and fundraising in the community, held its first event, Silhouettes of Style – 2009 Luncheon & Fashion Show. "I love fashion," she enthused, while describing her role as Co-Chair and Emcee.

A Night of Food, Fashion, and Festivities: A Celebration of PACE

The evening of June 23rd was an exciting "night on the town" experience as Nordstrom and El Gaucho honored Performing Arts Center Eastside (PACE) donors, business partners, Directors, and community leaders with an event devoted to the best Bellevue has to offer in food, fashion, and the arts.
