Executive Director's Message

For PACE, this has been a year filled with good news and growth, but, like everyone, everywhere, we are confronted at year's end with economic uncertainty. We are all fortunate, though, to live in a unique region, a place where generous people want to create strong communities, where newcomers to philanthropy want to make a real difference, and where an extraordinary number of residents still have the means to consider making large investments in worthy projects.

2008 Candlelight Dinner & Bench Auction Raises $450,000 For PACE

The Act One Guild's fifth annual signature event was a resounding success, raising $450,000 for PACE. Held Saturday evening, November 1st, the elegantly attired guests used the cocktail reception to catch up with friends and colleagues and preview the one-of-a-kind custom Benches, lining the corridor, that would be auctioned off to the enthusiastic crowd.

A Fond Farewell to Long-time Staff Member

As of January 2009, Suzanne Hutchinson, who has served as PACE's Director of Guilds for the past six years, will no longer be a member of the PACE staff. The announcement was made during the recent 2008 Candlelight Dinner & Bench Auction, where she received a lavish bouquet of flowers and a standing ovation from the attendees, many of whom have worked with her personally over the years.

The 32-member Act Two Guild has announced its first fundraising event, scheduled for April 3, 2009 at The Westin Bellevue. Samir Bodas Joins PACE Board of Directors

PACE is pleased to welcome a new addition to the Board of Directors. Samir Bodas is the CEO of Aztecsoft and has over 20 years of experience in business strategy, management, and sales and marketing.

Lending a Hand for PACE

Like any successful nonprofit organization, PACE relies upon the generosity of its volunteers. The importance of this caring group of people cannot be overemphasized; for example, as the 2008 Candlelight Dinner guests filed through the doors, a dedicated and enthusiastic group of volunteers had already been preparing the venue for several hours.

Support PACE by Taking Advantage of Renewed Law

If you are 70 1/2 years of age or older, own an IRA, and make charitable gifts, the best way to make a gift in 2008 may be with that IRA. Between now and the end of the year, a temporary change in tax law may help you in your charitable gift planning.
