PACE Announces $750,000 from State and King County

Performing Arts Center Eastside (PACE) recently announced two new grants totaling $750,000 from Washington State and King County in 2008.

State Of Washington

Just this month Washington State approved an allocation of $500,000, as part of its' 2008 Supplemental Capital Budget. This brings the State's total investment in PACE to $3 million. The State originally allocated $500,000 for PACE in the 2005 – 2007 Biennial Budget and made a second grant for $2,000,000 last year in the 2007 – 2009 Biennial Budget. "We at PACE appreciate the leadership and support from our the elected officials from Districts 5, 41, 45, and 48, with special thanks to Representative Fred Jarrett, as well as Representatives Judy Clibborn, and Ross Hunter," says John Haynes, Executive Director and CEO of PACE. "They are to be applauded for their efforts which are guided by a keen understanding of the value PACE will bring to the region as an economic, educational, and cultural asset."

King County, through 4Culture, also added to its previous investment with an additional $250,000 in the 2008 Budget. Since 2003 the total amount received from King County is $1.2 million. "The sponsorship of King County Councilmember Jane Hague made this possible for PACE. She has always shared our vision and sees the potential of PACE to transform the arts landscape on the Eastside," says Haynes. "We are grateful for her leadership and the generosity from King County toward make PACE a reality."
