Parties For PACE
Parties For PACE continue to build excitement and community support for Performing Arts Center Eastside (PACE). Several PACE supporters have opened their businesses and homes over the past few months to share information about plans to build the 2,000-seat center in downtown Bellevue with Eastside residents.

In late September, a Party was held at Estate Interiors, a high-end consignment furniture and accessories shop in Bellevue – the perfect location for the Party For PACE hosted by the Act One Guild. The event was well attended and gave Guild members the opportunity to share their excitement for the project with friends, co-workers, clients, and family members. In addition to learning more about PACE, the presentation highlighted the tireless efforts of the 45-member Guild which, since it's inception in 2003, has raised nearly $700,000 for PACE through their signature event – the Candlelight Dinners.

The Microsoft Conference Center on the Redmond campus was the location of an early October Party For PACE. This party, limited to 40 guests, combined information about PACE with a tour of the Microsoft Art Collection. The collection includes more than 4,500 works of art displayed throughout North America, and emphasizes contemporary art from around the world including paintings, sculptures, works on paper, photographs, ceramics, studio glass, and video. The Party was hosted by Act One Guild and King County Council member Jane Hague, her husband and PACE board member Ed Springman, and Betty and Kemper Freeman, Jr., Campaign For PACE Co-Chairs. Access to the Art Collection was provided by Dick and Dorchen Collins, who purchased the private tour for the benefit of PACE at the 2007 Bellevue Rotary Auction.

In late October, Dennis and Karen Dunn and David and April Humphrey hosted an evening wine and hors d'oeuvres Party For PACE at the Humphreys' home on Mercer Island. Over 30 people attended and had the opportunity to hear PACE Executive Director and CEO John Haynes speak about the project. His remarks centered on the Eastside's need for a "cultural heart", stating that "PACE is the right project, the right vision, and the right team to fulfill that need."

Our goal is to reach out through Parties For PACE to the future audiences we will serve on the Eastside – from Renton to Mill Creek and the area east of Lake Washington to the Cascade foothills – to build support for PACE. If you are interested in hosting a party or attending one, please contact Suzanne Hutchinson, Director of Guilds at 425.462.0099.
