BELLEVUE, WA. (Oct 16, 2006) – The Performing Arts Center Eastside (PACE) announces today that Sellen Construction Company has been selected to serve as general contractor for the upcoming performing arts center. In that role, the company will manage, with PACE, all aspects of the construction of the 2,000-seat center.

"We are thrilled to be joining the incredible design team PACE has assembled to create what is sure to be one of the most versatile and spectacular performing arts facilities in the region," says Scott Redman, principal in charge for Sellen Construction.

After careful review, Sellen was selected, according to Building Committee Chair and PACE Board Vice Chair Maxine Barnard, "because of their attention to detail, thoughtful proposal and outstanding construction portfolio that includes performing arts facilities. We are delighted to have them on board the PACE team."

Sellen Construction Company is among the largest locally owned commercial construction firms in the Pacific Northwest. Founded in 1944 by John H. Sellen, the company has been part of the phenomenal growth of the region. Buildings to their credit, and for which the company was also awarded recognitions, include the Bellevue Arts Museum, Seattle Art Museum Expansion & Olympic Sculpture Park, Pacific Lutheran University Morken Center, ACT Theatre PAC, Seattle Children's Theatre Technical Pavilion, University of Washington Conibear Shellhouse, and Paramount Theatre.

The company is recognized as a leader in innovative and sustainable construction methods. "We are dedicated to collaborating with talented designers, innovative clients, and skilled subcontractors to deliver what we hope will be a landmark building for the performing arts," says Redman.

Groundbreaking for PACE is scheduled for fall 2007. Currently, the design team is finalizing schematics, working closely with Richard Collins, executive director for PACE, who is overseeing all elements of project development.
