Call for Artists Begins – New Bucks For PACE Campaign to Raise Funds for Center
Act One Guild Launches Major Fund Raising Effort for PACE
BELLEVUE, Wash. (Aug. 24, 2005) – Act One Guild for the Performing Arts Center Eastside (PACE) announces a major new fund-raising project, Bucks For PACE. Life-size Bucks (25 deer Bucks) and 40 tabletop Bucks will be transformed by regional artists into works of art. The call for artists has begun and local artists are urged to submit their names for consideration.
Bucks For PACE is an ambitious project designed to bring awareness to PACE, as well as provide a creative and compelling fund-raising campaign. "Puget Sound's Eastside communities have never launched anything like Bucks For PACE," says Suzanne Hutchinson of PACE. "When these fabulous Bucks are on display throughout Bellevue and other Eastside communities, it will help bring PACE to life and generate excitement and interest PACE deserves."
PACE is a $100 million performing arts center, located in the heart of downtown Bellevue, and is scheduled to open in 2008. PACE's executive staff and board of directors are currently conducting its capital campaign. The Act One Guild is a volunteer fund-raising arm of PACE.
The fiberglass Bucks are in production and the Herd will arrive in the Bellevue area in January 2006 ready for the creative skills of selected Northwest artists. "The Bucks will provide an outstanding medium for any artist," suggests Hutchinson. "They are bold and already have a wonderful form. We cannot wait to see how our local creative talent will transform the Bucks into unique works of art."
When completed, the Bucks will be on display throughout the community beginning June 2006 in parks, street corners and other visible locations for everyone to enjoy. The Bucks will be auctioned off during the annual Candlelight Dinner, October 21, 2006. This year's Candlelight Dinner, scheduled for Nov. 12, 2005 at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue, is sold out. "Having this year's event completely sold out three months before it happens demonstrates the effectiveness of the Act One Guild and the up-swell of support for PACE in our community," says Hutchinson.
Deadline for submitting a Notification of Interest to Bucks For PACE is August 31, 2005 and can be done online at the Act One Guild website or at the PACE office at 855 106th Avenue NE, Suite 150, Bellevue, Wash. For questions, email to
