Artists Selected in Major New Bucks For PACE Campaign to Raise Funds for Center
Local Artists to "Dress" the Bucks with Colorful Flair
BELLEVUE, Wash. (Dec. 1, 2005) – The Act One Guild has taken on its most ambitious project to date—the Bucks For PACE public art and fundraising project. Pacific Northwest artists have been selected to transform twenty-six life-size Bucks (male deer) and 40 tabletop Bucks into works of art.
A Call for Artists was issued last August and after an extensive search and review process, 26 artists have been selected to use their creative skills on the life-size Bucks. They represent a collection of the finest the Northwest has to offer.
The fiberglass Bucks are in production and the Herd of "naked" Bucks will arrive in the area in January 2006, ready to be transformed into works of art. When painted, the Bucks will be displayed throughout Bellevue in June 2006, in parks, on street corners and at other public locations. At the Third Annual Candlelight Dinner, scheduled for October 21, 2006, the Bucks will make their final public appearance and then be auctioned off to raise funds for PACE.
"This is an exciting new project created by The Act One Guild and one that we know will build awareness, add creative public art to the streets of Bellevue for the summer and raise additional funds for PACE," says Suzanne Hutchinson Director of Guilds and Special Events. "The selected artists offer a wonderful mix of creativity and style to make these Bucks truly sensational."
