Ways of Giving
Your gift is important to the success of PACE. There are many ways to make a gift to the Campaign For PACE, and contributions can be designated to either the Capital or Endowment fund. Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Immediate Gifts
A gift of cash is the simplest and most direct means of contributing to the PACE Campaign. Donations by credit card, check (made payable to "PACE"), or wire transfer are welcome. Gifts are accepted via either of the two secure forms below with Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.
Pledge Your Gift
To increase your ability to make a substantial gift to PACE, consider making a pledge now, with payments and tax deductions spread over a number of years. Payments can be scheduled according to your needs, and pledge periods can extend up to five years.
Gifts of Securities
A gift of appreciated securities may be more favorable as a tax deduction than a cash donation. Publicly traded stocks, bonds, and mutual fund shares, as well as privately held stock and certain other securities, can be donated to PACE. The considerations involved in transferring and valuing each type of security can vary.
Matching Gifts
Many employers offer matching gift programs for charitable contributions made by current employees and retirees. Such programs may allow donors to double or triple the amount of their contribution to PACE. Please consult your benefits coordinator or human resource manager to learn how to ensure the match is made. If no formal matching program is established, ask your employer – your gift may be matched anyway as a result of your inquiry. PACE will give you recognition credit for the matching amount provided by your company.
Family Gifts
Donors are encouraged to build family gifts by inviting parents and grandparents, children and grandchildren, aunts and uncles, sisters, brothers, and others to join together to support PACE. By building family gifts, donors may be able to secure naming opportunities, for gift levels of $1 million and above, not otherwise available to them as individuals. This is a wonderful way to honor a loved one or your family name.
Group Gifts
Donors affiliated with like-minded people may wish to join with their colleagues to make a Group Gift. Such a gift allows a number of gifts to be joined together to reach a gift level sufficient to obtain a significant naming opportunity. It also commemorates and celebrates the generosity of the affiliates, whether joined through professional ties, ethnicity, or geographic origin. Individuals participating at appropriate levels will be recognized for their gifts, in addition to the recognition the entity receives.
Planned Gifts
Planned gifts are welcome and are viewed as strong statements of support for PACE – and are greatly encouraged. Planned gifts typically come from a donor's assets rather than income, and can be either outright or deferred. Planned giving possibilities include: direct transfers of various assets, bequests, beneficiary designations, charitable trusts, and other arrangements. Planned gifts are typically designated to the Endowment Campaign and are a great way to support PACE in the future. Some gift vehicles, like a Charitable Lead Trust, may be appropriate for making a gift to the Capital Campaign for bricks and mortar.
Making a planned gift can be as simple as including a charitable bequest for PACE in your will. PACE will recognize all donors who indicate that they have included PACE in their estate plans by including them in PACE's Twenty-First Century Society, inscribing their names on a special donor wall and providing them with special acknowledgements and benefits.
Remember, with a well-structured planned gift you may be able to:
- Increase your annual income;
- Receive an immediate income tax deduction;
- Avoid the tax on capital gains in appreciated assets; and
- Receive an estate or gift tax deduction.
In any case, you will create a lasting legacy for PACE!
Endowment
The annual earnings of the Endowment established during the Campaign For PACE will generate income to help sustain PACE operations. The PACE Endowment is designed to be used to fund special programming or public benefit initiatives; to supplement our budget during a weak economy; or to be reinvested, whenever possible, to grow the endowment further. Outright or planned gifts may be designated to the Endowment Campaign and help to ensure a stable, secure future for PACE. Also, a minimum gift of $50,000 can be used to establish a named endowed fund.
PACE manages its endowment though policies established by the Board of Directors. Earnings from endowment investments may support PACE operations and programs in accordance with donor-imposed restrictions. In addition to the restricted-use endowment gifts PACE receives, unrestricted endowment gifts provide maximum flexibility in their use. PACE's investment objectives are to manage contributions in a manner that will produce current income to support various programs of PACE, thereby maximizing the benefits intended by donors, and to achieve growth of both principal value income over time sufficient to preserve or increase the purchasing power of the assets of the endowment and protect them against inflation.
