Biographies

John Haynes

Executive Director and CEO

John Haynes joined PACE as Executive Director and CEO in January 2007. He brings 30 years of experience and accomplishment to PACE, having successfully built, opened, and operated performing arts centers and theatres in Minneapolis, San Diego, and at the University of Notre Dame. He has a reputation as an innovative programmer and maintains longstanding relationships with major artists, managers, and agents. Mr. Haynes has served as a cultural consultant for clients ranging from rural American communities to the People's Republic of China.

As the endowed chair for the performing arts at the University of Notre Dame, John worked with PACE architect Norman Pfeiffer to design and build the nationally celebrated, five-venue DeBartolo Center, for which he received the 2005 University President's Award.

John serves as Secretary-Treasurer of the Western Alliance of Arts Administrators and as a member of the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition Advisory Board. He is also active in Bellevue Rotary, Eastside Business Roundtable, the Puget Sound Regional Council, the Association of Performing Arts Presenters, and the International Association of Assembly Managers. His prior community activities have included service on the Boards of the San Diego Economic Development Council, San Diego Convention and Visitor's Bureau, and California State University College of Business.

John, his wife, Lori, and daughter, Kate, live in Bellevue.

Alka Badshah

Building Committee; Indian Community Eastside Group Gift Committee

Alka Badshah has over 20 years of experience in management, consulting, and application development in the IT industry with a focus on designing user-centered solutions. She is a consultant for Microsoft, having previously worked for 11 years in various management and consulting roles. Before Microsoft, Ms. Badshah worked for several high-tech companies. She is an alumna of MIT's media lab and has an undergraduate degree in architecture. Ms. Badshah worked with renowned architect Mosche Safdie on a competition to design the Beverly Hills Civic Center before transitioning to the world of computers.

Ms. Badshah has been involved in various charitable endeavors, such as mentoring young people, angel and other investing, and being active in social causes, including serving on the Advisory Board of the South Asia Center at the University of Washington and supporting efforts surrounding childhood development in Washington State and India. Ms. Badshah has a keen interest in furthering design through technology, and she has been involved with math, science, and business education through coaching and judging for organizations like Delta Epsilon Chi and Future Problem Solving. She and her husband, Akhtar, live in Bellevue with their three children.

Patricia Barker

Governance Committee, Major Gifts Committee

Patricia Barker is an instructor at Pacific Northwest Ballet School, and a former Principal dancer with Pacific Northwest Ballet. She has performed extensively throughout Europe, Asia, Australia and North America, and is considered one of the world's most gifted ballerinas. Ms. Barker is the founder of BKWear, a dancewear company.

In addition to her involvement with PACE, she is on the Advisory Board of CriticalDance, an international nonprofit organization that works to support and promote the dance arts. Ms. Barker has been a guest teacher at the Boston Ballet, and is a spokesperson for the United States Bone and Joint Decade, a public-education program on bone health and osteoporosis in collaboration with the U.S. Surgeon General. She lives in Seattle with her husband, Michael Auer.

Maxine Barnard

Chair, Building Committee; Executive Committee

A community volunteer for many years, Maxine Barnard's civic endeavors include serving as Chairman of the King County Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Administrative Board, President of the Junior League of Seattle, Chair of Seattle Center Advisory Commission, member of the University of Washington Foundation Board, and the first woman to head the University of Washington Tyee Athletic Board.

A graduate of Bellevue High School and a longtime Eastside resident, Ms. Barnard first became interested in a performing arts center on the Eastside while participating in an organizing committee contemplating a 2,000-seat theatre through the Eastside Performing Arts Center, a precursor to the PACE effort during the 1980s. She and her husband, Don, live in Bellevue.

Carl Behnke

Board Vice Chair; Executive Committee

Carl Benhke, the President of R.E.B. Enterprises and Chairman of Skinner Corporation and Sur La Table, earned his Bachelor's degree from Princeton University and an MBA from Harvard University. He serves on the Boards of Directors for YoCream International, Aubeta Networks, and the Commerce Bank of Washington.

Mr. Behnke is also currently the Chairman of the Board for Pacific Northwest Ballet, President of the Rainier Club, member of the Seattle Rotary Club, and Board Member of the University of Puget Sound, PONCHO, and PACE. Mr. Behnke and his wife, Renee, live in Clyde Hill.

Samir Bodas

Corporate Committee

Samir Bodas has over 20 years of experience in business strategy, general management, and sales and marketing. He started his business career at McKinsey and Co., spent several years in executive management at Microsoft, and was appointed as the CEO of Disha Technologies Inc. in 2003. Mr. Bodas has positioned Disha Technologies as the leading provider of independent testing services to software product companies, and successfully managed its acquisition by Aztecsoft, where he is now the CEO.

Mr. Bodas graduated with distinction in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin and earned his MBA in Finance and Marketing from the Wharton School of Business, where he was a Palmer scholar. He is also the founding charter member of the Seattle Chapter of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), and is actively involved with several charities. He lives in Bellevue with his wife, Sarika, and their two children.

Dennis Conrad

Board Treasurer; Chair, Finance Committee; Executive Committee

As a founding member of the Bellevue accounting firm Sweeney Conrad P.S., Dennis Conrad is President and Managing Partner. He has dedicated his professional career to assisting privately-owned and family enterprises with their business and financial affairs.

Currently, Mr. Conrad is serving as a member of the Board of Directors for the Bellevue Downtown Association and PACE. He has served as Chairman of the Policy Board for the Bellevue Transportation Management Association, President of the Pacific Northwest Arts and Crafts Association, Treasurer of Overlake Hospital Medical Center, the Bellevue Arts Museum, and the Bellevue Arts Museum School. Mr. Conrad has also served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce and United Way of King County (where he was on the Finance Committee). Mr. Conrad and his wife, Jan, live in Kirkland.

James J. Doud, Jr.

Finance Committee

Jim Doud is a business consultant and former Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Matthew G. Norton Co. He is a Director of Ambia Inc., Property Development Corp., Washington Federal Inc., Cascadia Capital LLC, and is an Advisory Board member of Romac Inc.

Mr. Doud and his wife, Candace, live in Medina. His current volunteer positions, in addition to the PACE Board, include Trustee for Overlake Hospital Medical Center, Trustee (Emeritus) for Western Washington University Foundation, and Advisory Board member of Western Washington University College of Business.

Janine Florence

Board Vice Chair; Executive Committee; Building Committee

Janine Florence serves as Chairman and President of Property Development Corporation. Ms. Florence is past Chairman of the Bellevue Downtown Association, past President of the Bellevue Schools Foundation, and a former Board member of the Bellevue Community College Foundation. She is currently a Trustee of Overlake Hospital. Ms. Florence and her husband, Alex, live in Bellevue.

Betty Freeman

Campaign Co-Chair; Executive Committee

Betty Freeman has a history of service in a variety of organizations in the region as a longtime community volunteer. She has served for many years on the Overlake Hospital Foundation Board, the Standing Ovation Advisory Board, and is a member of the Children's Hospital Guild and Seattle Junior League. She is also a founding member of the Act One Guild for PACE.

Ms. Freeman and her husband, Kemper, are longstanding PACE advocates as well as developers of The Bellevue Collection (Bellevue Place, Lincoln Square, and Bellevue Square), which also includes the Hyatt Regency Bellevue and The Westin Bellevue hotels. The Freemans have two daughters and five grandchildren, and live in Bellevue. She joined the PACE Board as Co-Chair for the Campaign For PACE in 2006.

Kemper Freeman, Jr.

Campaign Co-Chair; Executive Committee

Kemper Freeman, Jr. and his wife, Betty, are longtime PACE advocates. They are the developers of The Bellevue Collection (Bellevue Place, Lincoln Square, and Bellevue Square), which also includes the Hyatt Regency Bellevue and The Westin Bellevue hotels. Mr. Freeman is the third generation of his family to be involved in the ownership and development of Bellevue Square.

Mr. Freeman is a past Chairman of the International Council of Shopping Centers as well as the past Chairman of the association's Government Relations Committee and has served as a Trustee since 1987. He is past President of Bellevue Rotary, Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, and the Bellevue Downtown Association; he serves on the Board of Overlake Hospital, and also co-chaired the capital campaign for the Bellevue Arts Museum. He has a long history of involvement in political and civic activities, is a former Washington State Legislator, and is actively seeking a solution to traffic congestion in the region through funding and research. The Freemans, who live in Bellevue, are serving as Co-Chairs for the Campaign For PACE.

Ann Gores

Campaign Division Chair, Community Gifts Committee

Ann Gores works as a professional artist and has exhibited in various art shows and competitions across the United States and Europe. She is professionally affiliated with the American Academy of Women Artists, Oil Painters of America, and California Art Club.

Ms. Gores received her Bachelor of Art degree from St. Mary's College with a minor in secondary education. In addition, she has studied interior design and worked as an elementary school art teacher. She also has many ties to the local community, volunteering with the Bellevue Boys and Girls Club, Grace Heffernan Arnold Cancer Guild of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Junior League of Seattle, Seattle Art Museum Supporters, Seniors Making Art, and Swedish Hospital Women's Forum. Ms. Gores lives in Bellevue with her husband, Tom.

Tom Gores

Campaign Division Chair, Community Gifts Committee

Tom Gores is a partner with the Perkins Coie law firm and practices in the area of personal planning. He helps clients with tax and estate planning issues, trust and estate administration, and corporate fiduciary counseling. Mr. Gores is the Past Chairman of the Washington State Bar Association, Real Property, Probate and Trust Section; the Past President of the Seattle Estate Planning Council; a Fellow with the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel; and a Fellow with the International Academy of Estate and Trust Law.

Mr. Gores received his law degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School and his Master of Law in estate planning from the University of Miami. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America, which is a peer-reviewed survey of the top attorneys in the country published by Woodward White, Inc. He has also been recognized as one of "Washington's Super Lawyers" in Washington Law & Politics and is listed as one of Puget Sound's Top Business Lawyers" in Seattle Business Monthly. Mr. Gores has contributed his time and expertise to a number of community organizations including the Swedish Hospital Foundation and the Seattle Foundation. He lives in Bellevue with his wife, Ann."

Sally Gray

Chair, Governance Committee; Community Gifts Committee

Sally Gray recently retired from RBC Dain Rauscher, an investment firm, where she was a Vice President and Financial Consultant. Ms. Gray is a former District Governor of Rotary 5030, Past President of Bellevue Rotary, and a former Chair of the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, the Eastside Business Roundtable, and Bellevue Community College Foundation Board.

Ms. Gray has also been involved in a number of Eastside nonprofit organizations, serving terms as a Board member for the United Way of King County, Overlake Medical Center, and Bellevue Philharmonic Orchestra. The 1993 Eastside Woman of the Year, she lives in Bellevue with her husband, Jim.

Cathi Hatch

Governance Committee

Cathi Hatch is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of ZINO Society LLC, a premier business and social membership organization that connects accredited investors with entrepreneurs and cultivates camaraderie in the worlds of wine and business. Prior to founding ZINO Society, she served in executive leadership positions and has consulted for the restaurant business for over 25 years. She has also served as a business facilitator and trainer.

Ms. Hatch currently serves on the Governing Board of Trustees of Pacific Northwest Ballet as a Past Board Chair. In addition, she serves on the Boards of a number of nonprofit organizations, including PACE, United Way of King County, PONCHO, YMCA, Seniors Making Art, and the Advisory Board of Treehouse. In the past, Ms. Hatch was President of Junior League of Seattle and the Founding Chair of the Alexis de Tocqueville Society Ambassadors program for United Way. Among her many awards is the 2004 Junior League of Seattle Dorothy Stimson Bullitt Award for a lifetime of volunteer leadership. Ms. Hatch lives in Bellevue with her husband, Ken.

James Hebert

Campaign Public Sector Committee

Jim Hebert is the President and Founder of Hebert Research, a 30-year-old international public policy research firm with offices in Bellevue, Washington; Kobe, Japan; Mexico City, Mexico; and Lyon, France. He has managed more than 200 research projects throughout the United States concerning the performing arts, one of Hebert Research's areas of specialty. Hebert Research was given the Emerging Business Award in 1992 by the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Hebert obtained his Bachelor's degree from the University of Washington, where he was appointed Adjunct Professor in 1996, and his MBA from Seattle University, where he is now Professor of Business for the graduate school. He has served as Chairman of the Board of the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, and currently serves on the Advisory Boards of Seattle University and Central Washington School of Business as well as on the Boards of PACE and Life Support, of which he is Vice Chair and Co-Founder. In addition, he is Vice Chair and Co-Chair of Camp Korey, a camp for children with serious and terminal diseases. Mr. Hebert and his wife, Cynthia, live in Roslyn.

Peter Horvitz

Chair, Board of Directors; Executive Committee; Finance Committee; Building Committee

As Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Horvitz Newspapers, Peter Horvitz manages the publication of the Peninsula Daily News, published in Port Angeles, Washington, and The Daily Times in Maryville, Tennessee. In 2003, Mr. Horvitz received the A.K. Guy Award presented by the YMCA of Greater Seattle.

Mr. Horvitz is active on many Boards of Trustees including Pacific Northwest Ballet, Overlake Hospital Association, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, ArtsFund, and Syracuse University. Peter and Peggy Horvitz live in Kirkland.

Charles Lytle

Campaign Co-Chair; Executive Committee

Chuck Lytle, founder of Leisure Care and President of Lytle Enterprises, is a pioneer in the senior housing market. Lytle Enterprises owns retirement communities throughout the United States, and Mr. Lytle has served on the Boards of senior housing organizations, community hospitals, and health maintenance organizations.

Mr. Lytle and his wife, Karen, are residents of Mercer Island. Locally, his community positions include Chairman of Swedish Medical Center Foundation, President of Washington State Special Olympics, Vice Chairman for the Alexis de Tocqueville Society of United Way, and Vice President of PONCHO. At present, Mr. Lytle sits on the Swedish Medical Center Board of Trustees (Executive Committee), Board of Governors for the Swedish Medical Center Foundation, and is a member of their Campaign Leadership Council. He is also Chairman of the Swedish Cancer Advisory Council and Board member of the Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Research. Mr. Lytle joined the PACE Board as Co-Chair for the Campaign For PACE in 2006.

Karen Lytle

Campaign Co-Chair; Executive Committee

Karen Lytle joined her husband, Chuck Lytle, at Leisure Care in 1981 as Vice President of the Retirement Community Division, eventually becoming Chairman of that company. She is currently the Chairman of Lytle Enterprises. In 2006, she was recognized by the Puget Sound Business Journal as one of the most influential women in Washington.

From 1995 to 2008, Ms. Lytle was President of Seniors Making Art, a nonprofit organization founded by artist Dale Chihuly, and continues to serve on its Executive Committee. She is also a member of the Swedish Medical Center Campaign Leadership Council and Washington Women's Foundation. Ms. Lytle's other community activities have included serving on the Pacific Northwest Ballet Advisory Board, as Treasurer for Washington State PTSA, Chair of Corporate Concerns, Director of a local Chamber of Commerce, and she also founded a federation of Chambers of Commerce in the Seattle area. Ms. Lytle joined the PACE Board as Co-Chair for the Campaign For PACE in 2006. She and her husband, Chuck, live on Mercer Island.

John Matheson

Building Committee; Campaign Public Sector Committee

For more than 20 years, John Matheson owned and operated Fibres International Inc. of Bellevue, which operated plants in Bellevue, South Seattle, and Salt Lake City. He and his wife, Hazel, now live in Clyde Hill.

The couple has been supporters of the Bellevue Philharmonic for the past 35 years and in 1999, John served as President of the Bellevue Philharmonic Orchestra Board. The Mathesons also established an Overlake Hospital endowment for an annual nurses' training seminar and they are benefactors of the Bellevue Arts Museum, Standing Ovation, and Village Theatre.

Christine Miller

Finance Committee

Crissey Miller is currently President of Miller Real Estate Group, located in Bellevue; this commercial real estate brokerage and management company specializes in Northwest properties. Ms. Miller was born and raised in Seattle. She completed her undergraduate work at Loyola Marymount University before continuing on to Seattle University to complete her MBA.

Ms. Miller is active in the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and a member of the local ICSC Board. She has served on the Alumnae Board of Forest Ridge School and has volunteered with the YMCA of Seattle and the Junior League of Seattle, where she is also a Past President. Ms. Miller lives in Kirkland.

Susan Neumann

Governance Committee; Building Committee

Susan Neumann grew up in Bellevue, graduated from the University of Washington, and currently lives in Medina with her husband, Gary. She is active in the community and has served on several Boards. Ms. Neumann has been President of the Bellevue Community College Foundation Board, President of the Bellevue Town Hall Speaker Series, and President of the Belle Arte Music Foundation. She recently served on the Ladies Musical Club Board and has previously been involved with the International Music Festival and the Seattle Symphony. Ms. Neumann's interest in the Eastside, with special emphasis on music, prompted her enthusiasm for PACE and what it will do to enrich music opportunities in the community.

Sally A. Nordstrom

Building Committee

Sally A. Nordstrom was born and raised in Seattle and attended the University of Washington. She has lived in Bellevue since 1964, where she raised four sons and became an active participant in the Bellevue School District's PTSA. She has also served on the Town of Hunts Point City Council.

Mrs. Nordstrom has held positions on the Board of Directors of the Junior League of Seattle, the Boy's Club of America National Board, Swedish Medical Center, and was the first female Board President of the Bellevue Boys and Girls Club. In addition to PACE, she is currently on the Advisory Board for Bellevue Boys and Girls Club. Mrs. Nordstrom's honors include the Woman & Youth Award from the Bellevue Boys and Girls Club and the Lifetime Achievement Award from Swedish Medical Center.

Stephen P. Reynolds

Corporate Gifts Committee

Steve Reynolds is Chairman, President, and CEO of Washington-based Puget Energy, a Fortune 1000 company, and its utility subsidiary, Puget Sound Energy. He was formerly CEO of Reynolds Energy International and served for 10 years as CEO of Oregon's Pacific Gas Transmission Company.

In addition to his corporate responsibilities, Mr. Reynolds serves on the Boards of ArtsFund, the Fifth Avenue Theatre, Nature Conservancy of Washington, and Washington Roundtable. A California native, he earned a Bachelor's degree in economics from the University of California-Berkeley, and an MBA from the University of Oregon. He and his wife, Paula Rosput Reynolds, now live in Seattle.

Skip Rowley

Public Sector Committee

Skip Rowley is Chairman of the Board of Rowley Properties, Inc., a third generation family-owned and operated property management and development company. Mr. Rowley chaired the PACE Board from 2005 to 2007 and has been a Director since inception. He also chaired the Campaign For PACE Public Sector Committee from 2005 to 2008. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Overlake Hospital, ArtsFund, and 4Culture, and is a member of Washington Roundtable. In 2008, Mr. Rowley received the City of Issaquah's "Hall of Fame" award and was selected by Seattle Seafair to represent Seafair as King Neptune Rex LIX.

Mr. Rowley has won recognition for his work by receiving the Greater Issaquah Chamber of Commerce's Issaquah Citizen of the Year award, Issaquah Businessman of the Year award, and the Issaquah School District's Golden Apple Award. He is a past President of the Issaquah Chamber of Commerce and was the founding President of the East King County Chamber of Commerce Legislative Coalition. Skip also served on the Governor's Blue Ribbon Commission on Transportation, chairing the Revenue Committee, and as co-chair of the Regional Transportation Group sponsored by the Puget Sound Regional Council. Skip and his wife, Debra, have three daughters, three grandsons, and one granddaughter.

Alex Smith

Finance Committee

Alex Smith currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Kaye-Smith Enterprises, a document management company. He is a member of the Bellevue Rotary Club, a Board member for Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer Research, and a Trustee for the Seattle Chamber of Commerce. He earned his BA from the University of Washington, and lives with his wife, Ange, and their two children in Issaquah.

Bradford Smith

Campaign Division Chair, Public Sector Committee

Brad Smith is Microsoft's General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. He leads the company's Department of Legal and Corporate Affairs, which has over 1,000 employees, and is responsible for all legal and regulatory work and government, industry, and community affairs activities worldwide.

Mr. Smith is also a member of Microsoft's 10-person Senior Leadership Team and is the senior executive responsible for the company's external relations in Washington State. Since assuming this responsibility in 2002, he has worked to expand Microsoft's public engagement and advocacy in Puget Sound and across the state. During this time, the company and its employees have increased their philanthropic giving in the state, contributing more than $64 million during the past year, and Microsoft has used its voice to address public issues such as education, transportation, and economic competitiveness. Mr. Smith and his wife, Kathy Surace-Smith, live in Bellevue with their two children.

Danielle Smith

Corporate Gifts Committee

Danielle Smith is a Managing Member for Centurion Financial Group, a Bellevue-based real estate lending company, and has been a key team member since the firm's founding in 2004. Ms. Smith received a Bachelor's degree in e-commerce and information systems from the Albers School of Business at Seattle University, where she was also on the Dean's List for academic achievement and has served on the Academic Affairs Committee.

Ms. Smith is a graduate of Eastlake High School and a lifelong resident of the Eastside community. She is a Board member of the Independent Business Association and is a dedicated fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House. Ms. Smith is an active parishioner with St. Jude Parish in Redmond, where she also volunteers as a religious-education teacher. She lives in Kirkland.

Ron Smith

Building Committee

Ron Smith is Vice President of Development for Lytle Enterprises, where he oversees and directs acquisition and development of the company's senior housing portfolio. Prior to joining Lytle Enterprises, he was Vice President and General Manager of Lincoln Square. He joined Kemper Development Company in 2003 to manage and help direct the development of Lincoln Square, bringing his extensive background in residential building and development and commercial real estate investment.

In addition to his experience in real estate, Mr. Smith was also the Mayor of the City of Bellevue from 1994 to 1996, serving as the City's youngest mayor in history. He served on the City Council from 1992 to 2000. Concurrent with his seat on the City Council, he owned and operated Kirkland Building Company, which he co-founded in 1989, and built and developed residential communities throughout Puget Sound. He is now on the Board of the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce and a past President of the PACE Board. Mr. Smith moved to Bellevue in 1989, and presently lives there with his wife, Amie, and their two children.

C. Edward Springman

Chair, Board Gifts Committee; Governance Committee

Ed Springman, Chief Executive Officer of Sherron Associates, Inc., formed the Bellevue-based real estate investment company in 1969. Mr. Springman is active in the Eastside community serving on the Board of Directors of Overlake Hospital, Master Builders Education Foundation, and King County Boys and Girls Club. He has also served as a director for several local companies including Quality Food Centers, Enterprise Bank, Property Development Corporation, and Advanced Computer Products.

After graduating with a Bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania State University, Mr. Springman went on to advanced studies at Harvard Business School. He lives in Bellevue with his wife, King County Councilmember Jane Hague, and has three children, including Kurt Springman, Bellevue City Councilmember, and Glenn Springman, who is president of Sherron Associates, Inc.

Kathy Surace-Smith

Board Secretary; Executive Committee

Kathy Surace-Smith is Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary of SonoSite, Inc., a NASDAQ-listed medical device company specializing in high-performance, hand-carried ultrasound technology and based in Bothell, Washington. In addition to her involvement with PACE, she is also the Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of The Overlake School, and serves on the Eastside Blue Ribbon Committee of the YWCA of King County. She has previously served on the Boards of Overlake Hospital Medical Center Foundation in Bellevue and the Children's Museum in Seattle. She and her husband, Brad Smith, live in Bellevue and have two teenaged children.

Randall Talbot

Randy Talbot is President and Chief Executive Officer of Symetra Financial Corp. and its insurance subsidiaries, as well as a member of its Board of Directors. Under his leadership, Symetra has emerged as one of the leading life insurance and financial services companies on the West Coast.

Mr. Talbot serves on the Board of Washington Roundtable and, in March 2008, was appointed to the Board of Concur, a leading provider of on-demand Employee Spend Management services. He also serves on the Directors Council for the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) and is a member of the Initiative for Global Development, a national network of corporate leaders with a business approach to abject poverty. In 2007, Mr. Talbot was named Washington CEO magazine's "CEO of the Year." He and his wife, Margaret, live in Bellevue.

Scott Wallace

Campaign Public Sector Committee

A lifelong resident of East King County, Scott Wallace volunteers as a Supervisor for the King Conservation District, a Washington State agency promoting best management practices with sustainable solutions for our natural resources. He is currently a King County Trustee of Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Mr. Wallace and his wife, Mary Rose, live in Bellevue.

A former King County Commissioner from 1959 to 1967, Mr. Wallace represented District 3, reaching from Ballard east to Renton, and served as Chairman of the 1966 Board. He was a Director of the Eastside's oldest independent bank, First Mutual Bank, for more than 25 years.

Richard E. Wirthlin

Richard Wirthlin is President of KeyBank's Seattle-Cascades District. He joined KeyBank in January 2006 as President of KeyBank's Cincinnati District, bringing with him more than 20 years of corporate banking experience. In his current capacity, Mr. Wirthlin oversees KeyBank's community banking system in North, Central, and Eastern Washington.

Mr. Wirthlin currently serves on the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and is a volunteer coach for the Boys and Girls Club of Bellevue. As a lifelong golfer, he continues to remain involved as a Director of the Western Golf Association. He is also on the Board of the Pacific Coast Banking School, a program designed to help bank employees develop advanced management decision-making abilities. Mr. Wirthlin lives in Bellevue with his wife, Karen, and two children.
